The Chrome extension
A One Call confirmation email tells Dig Window everything about a ticket except the shape of the dig zone you drew. The Dig Window extension fills that gap: while your coordinator is signed in to the One Call portal as usual, it reads the drawn zones off the portal pages and puts them on your field map. Without it, tickets still track, but the map shows an address point instead of the zone.
Install (once, on the coordinator's computer)
- In Chrome or Edge, open the Dig Window extension on the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome. (Edge asks once to allow extensions from other stores.)
- Click the Dig Window icon in the toolbar and sign in with your office email and the 8-digit code, the same way as the app.
- If a One Call portal tab was already open, reload it.
Use
There is nothing to press. When the coordinator opens the One Call portal, the extension checks which of your company's tickets have no zone in Dig Window yet, then opens those tickets' pages in the background, in the coordinator's own session, to copy their drawn zones (about one ticket per second). A small toast says what it is doing, and the popup shows a log. Pull zones now in the popup asks it to go again.
Zones you draw for jobs you have not filed yet can be sent to the map too, as planned zones, so the crew can see what is coming.
Good to know
- The extension never submits, files or edits a locate request. The one thing it types into the portal is a Dig Window planning key in the Project # field (or a line in Additional Information), and only when the coordinator clicks Use this key; the coordinator reviews the form and submits it as usual. It works only inside your own portal session; Dig Window never holds your One Call login.
- It needs your One Call emails to be flowing first (Pointing Ontario One Call at Dig Window). The email creates the ticket; the extension adds its zone.
- One coordinator with the extension is enough for the whole company.
- Included on Mini and up; not part of the Partner plan, which receives zones from the contractor that shares them.
